May Update on Novel

Good Morning everyone! If you are stopping in on this page, you must be curious about my Young Adult ToLW story, and how it is coming along.

If you recall, last month I was very disappointed in chapters eleven and twelve. I had forced myself to push through both chapters and the results left a lot to be desired. I did not have any choice but to go back over it—in what I thought would be terrible struggle to bend the story to my will.

I am very happy to report that when I finally back-tracked to write it again, the words easily fell into place and the story moved along better than I expected. Everything sort of fell into place in that special way that leaves you awed that your the writer, and not just another person reading a story.

I live for those moments!

After finishing those chapters, I quickly moved on to start and finish thirteen and begin fourteen.

And that’s when things took a frustrating turn again.

Another project suddenly came  up and I was forced to put away the YA story until this other project is finished. I am hoping that I will finish it in a week or two, because I desperately want to finish Emily’s story.

I have enjoyed the short break from my forever-stubborn Emily, however, I am making such good progress that I feel a little desperate to get back and finish her story. I am crossing my fingers, toes, eyes and anything else that I can to hopefully finish the new project and be back to ToLW within two weeks.

Where am I in the story right now?

Current word count is at 23,500. Getting close to the halfway point(which is why it is so hard to work on this other story).

I am also at the point in the story where I am second guessing every decision I have made to this point. Not so much in many plot points, most of those have thankfully ironed themselves out all on their own. (After sitting in a file for five years, I hope the plot would be figured out. Hahahaha)

Take the title for instance. A Tale of the Lost Weregirl.

I wonder if perhaps it is not attention-grabbing enough for pre-teen girls. There are a few other title choices that I am chewing over, but I still have yet to make that final decision. I am also tossed up on the book cover design. I like the current one that I have, but I’m not in love with it. It just seems to be off a bit, or missing something important—yet, I have no idea what it is. As I don’t have much choice, I will just have to keep trying until I find the design that fits perfectly for my very picky main character, Emily.

On a side note:

I have recently gotten a lot of comments about people finding out that I am a writer and that I am getting geared up to release my Young Adult novel this year.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank those people out there that are helping me build recognition as a writer and blogger.

Thank You for all of your support!!!!!!
