Alyssa Mayley

A warm welcome to all of my fellow story lovers!

As a young child, I loved words. The Goosebumps books by R.L. Stein only helped me fall farther into an obsession with reading. When I was eleven, I picked up my first full-length novel and realized that stories below 300 pages just wasn’t cutting it anymore. As a voracious reader, I found the more words there were to explore, the more I enjoyed my time in the story (as long as it was told well). You could count on me to be the girl that always carried a book around in my purse, book bag or pockets (if they were big enough). Yes, I did get ‘a lot’ of questioning stares, but I couldn’t help it. At any free moment, I would crack it open just to read a few more sentences.

It was years before I picked up another young adult novel, and was reminded why I enjoyed reading in that genre in the first place. Action, adventure, friendships, new experiences and an easy acceptance of mystical elements, fantasy, and magic which I never really outgrew.

I could never have imagined how a hobby I was so passionate about would lead me to such an exciting career where each day brings new challenges and triumphs. In a single day, I can bounce back and forth between homeschooling, writing new content, updating social media, editing stories, organizing my workspace for efficiency, responding to emails, researching story content and writing craft techniques, and learning more about art which I’ve recently gotten back into. (I almost never perform all of these in a single day.)

And for those of you who have been with me from the beginning or have joined me somewhere along the way; I truly am thankful for all of your love and support. It’s what keeps me pushing through those days when it’s easier to pull the blankets back over my head. Your level of awesomeness is out of this stratosphere!!!

XOXO Alyssa Mayley

    1. Thanks so much S.K.! I appreciate you stopping by and showing some support for my blog.

I’ve been enjoying your weekly posts on your website for a little while now. So, it’s super cool that your now following mine!! Your blog topics always leave me feeling inspired, as you share snippets of your daily life as a writer, wife and mom. I know how difficult it can be to juggle all of those things and try to find time and ways to continue to create fresh, new content. It helps by letting me know I’m not alone in this struggle, and usually I laugh my way through each one.

I’m so glad we’ve had the opportunity to meet by joining this #platchal spin-off group, and I too look forward to getting to know more about you in the coming months and years! 🙂

I'd love to hear from you. Click here to leave a reply.
